Admission Process

Admissions to long term care are made by referral from your local health authority such as FraserHealth, IslandHealth or Vancouver Coastal Health.

These agencies can help:

• Clarify your care needs

• Explain available choices

• Make connections to appropriate services and providers in your community

• Arrange for admission to a long term care home

• Determine your eligibility for government-funded services and support

Selecting The Right Home

In advance of the Health Authority placing you for care, it is worth coming for a tour at one of our homes.

Each health authority will give you the opportunity to select your top choice(s) for long term care in your community.

Once you have toured a few facilities you will be in a position to rank your choices.

Types of Rooms

To suit the needs and preferences of residents, our long term care homes typically have private (one bed) and semi-private (two beds) rooms accommodations.

At The Care Group, residents and families are encouraged to make their rooms feel like home by bringing in personal items, such as family photos or a favourite picture.

The Cost of Subsidized Care

For those assessed for subsidized care, by their case manager, the cost of long term care are shared by the resident and the local Health Authority.

A general rule of thumb is that one can expect to pay approximately 80% of their after-tax income, up to a maximum.
